MAREEZ-E-ISHQ CHAPTER 7

Geet went straight to the head nurse's office to make changes in her schedule permanently.

When she opened the door, she saw Dr. Malhotra sitting at the table drinking coffee. He looked up at her and smiled, ‘Good morning, Geet.’

Good morning too, Sir. Geet replied in flat professional tone.

Have a seat.’ He gestures to the front seat. She thanked him and sat down.

What's brought you here? He asked.

Hmmm....about yesterday...’ she was not sure how to ask him.

He frowned then he got what she was trying to say.

About changing your shift? He asked with his one of the eyebrow raised.

Yes, Sir.’ Geet confirmed.

He sighed and laid his back on his chair. He seems frustrated with what she wanted to happen and don't know why.

Are you sure of your decision?

She nodded and he opened the drawer and then he took out a paper. He wrote something there and later he presented the paper to her. ‘Sign it.’

Geet took it, ‘Thank you, Sir.’

‘You can go now. My cousin is looking for you.’

Geet frowned at his tone but she chooses to ignore it and stood up.

Thanks again. She turned away to walk out, only to hear his voice.

Wait...

she turned and saw his serious expression

Seeing her stopping, he spoke again. ‘One more thing, don't fall in love with my cousin. It's dangerous.’

Geet was surprised by what he said. What the heck? Does he know what he's talking about?

He is only my patient... It'll never gonna happen.’

As she said that, her heart beat faster. There is a resistance going on in her heart and mind. She just shrugged her thoughts to erase it.

He stared at her so she looked away.

Just make sure of it, Geet. I just want to warn you.

Thanks for the warning. Good day, Sir. She said before leaving his office. She really couldn't stop being annoyed by what he says.

I will never fall for my patient! will never be! I will not love a patient who is obsessed with others!

She calmed herself down when she reached Maan’s room. She closed her eyes tightly to erase the things that entered her mind.

She took the key card to open the door. She took another breath and slowly opened it.

The sleeping Maan appeared in her eyesight and he was tied up again. She could see the suffering on his face so she quickly approached and slowly removed it.

Mr. Malhotra said yesterday Maan's father the one who ordered it. But the question is why? She couldn't help but get angry while thinking that Maan's father will add to the suffering his son is experiencing.

Geet sat next to Maan and watched his sleeping face…she looked down at his hand and saw the damage it had done.

Her hand seemed to have a life of its own and she took it gently. Not even wrapped and just cleaned. She runs her fingers softly on his knuckles. His hands flinched a little so she looked back at his face.

He slowly opened his eyes and immediately met her lovely gaze. His eyes clouded at her.

I'm fcked up, huh?

He whispered and covered his face.

‘I just want my Sam back. Why they can't understand it?’

Maan...’ she raised her hand to remove his hand and she wiped his wet cheek.

Why can't you just kill me? I'm tired. I want to die. I better die...’ His face shows pain and suffering. She didn't think it would get to the point where he wanted to disappear from the world rather than choose to forget the woman he loved and be happy.

No, Maan. That is not the right solution. You will heal, you will get Sam back. I will help you.’ Geet said in determined tone, only to have him looking at her in surprise.

He turned to her and was surprised when he grabbed her hand. ‘Can you kiss me? I want to forget her, even just for a minute.’

Geet stopped and stared at his face. Her heart beat fastens while looking at his serious expression.

Her mind and heart were arguing while she was utterly confused. Shall I kiss him? She wanted to nod but as she stared at his face, she found herself silently nodding her head.

For his own good. That's what she tried to get into her mind.

She brought her face closer to his, closed her eyes when she felt his breath hitting her face.

He cupped her face and next thing she knew his lips met hers. Electricity enveloped her entire body, from her toes to her hair. Her heart was beating faster than before. She felt like she wanted to leave.

His soft lips moved while she met his burning gaze...which seems to be watching her expression for a while now.

Sam...

He whispered when he stared at her eyes. Something in her felt like a failure. She felt heavy for some unknown reason. The previously fast beating heart gradually weakened and slowed down. She clenched her fist and walked away from him.

I'm not Sam.' She said firmly before standing up and going into the bathroom.

......

Geet stared at her face in the bathroom mirror and stroked her lips. She can still feel his lips on her. She closed her eyes tightly and bit her lip. What is happening to her?

She turned on the faucet and washed her face, just in case she woke up from her mania and the impossible things that entered her mind.

She was startled when she heard a knock. She knew it's Maan, she looked at herself in the mirror again and tried to calm the losing system.

She sighed and opened the door. Maan came up to her with an emotionless face and looked at her. She straightened up and got up the courage to look into his eyes.

I will prepare your breakfast.’

But he ignored her and still blocked her path.

To be continued...
